Last June 22, we had our annual Masters’ Lecture Series at Fisher Mall. This year’s set of composer lecturer featured yet another four multi-awarded songwriters who empowered the crowd with their songwriting knowledge and skills – Trina Belamide, Barbie Almalbis, Lito Camo, and Quest!

Trina Belamide, multi-awarded songwriter, has won in various national and international songwriting competitions and has written songs for Philippine’s top recording artists. 👏👏👏

Some of her notable works include “Shine”, “Now That I Have You”, and “Tell the World of His Love” which was the official theme song of World Youth Day 1995 held in Manila, Philippines.  She shared her “kwentos and tips” from her 28 years of journey in the music industry and how to create more meaningful messages.

Every Tabing Ilog fan will never forget that the iconic soundtrack of that show came from Barbie Almalbis. As years went by, the Rockoustic Icon has definitely captured everyone with songs that made our hearts reminisce and feel more alive. Her notable works include “Tabing Ilog”, “Torpe”, “Just A Smile”.

“Habang sarado ang pinto, gawa ka lang ng gawa ng kanta para kapag bumukas, ready ka na.”

Her lecture was focused on truthfulness in lyrics and importance of melody.

Lito Camo is the man behind the most popular novelty hit songs that made everyone sing, smile, and dance. From commercial songs, TV show theme songs, to dance craze songs – the King of Novelty Songs has successfully captured the hearts of the people regardless of age. His notable works include “Otso-Otso”, “Bulaklak”, and “Spaghetti Song”.

He shared the story of his humble beginnings before becoming a songwriter. His advice? Always have a clear mind before writing songs.

FYI, he asked random words from the audience and performed an impromptu songwriting and IT WAS AMAZING!

From empowering Filipinos to creating songs that turn into anthems, Quest shed light as to how songwriting can be used to inspire positivity and empowerment. His notable works include “Walang Hanggan”, Gilas Pilipinas 2012 Theme Song “Sige Lang”, and Ginebra Theme Song “Tagay”.

He shared his his life events that led him to discover his love for songwriting. He said that he was actually a “late bloomer” when it comes to songwriting.
